From what I can surmise from
the Interactive Entertainment class the future of interactive
evolving media is a bright, exciting one. With the recent addition
to UCF of an Interactive Entertainment Academy it seems that possibilities
are ever expanding. According to http://fiea.ucf.edu/shield/showpage.php?page_id=1
it proudly speaks of the program which have a “…process
ensures that the curriculum is of the highest educational quality
and that the courses and credits earned will transfer to virtually
any other school or university in the country.” Looking
on the website you can see the different gaming consoles and computers
all lined up for the experimentation of the students. With the
new generation of people growing up with the advancing technology
it can only make me speculate further on the future of interactive
entertainment.
The latest cell phones seem to have more power than the computers
in the 80s and 90s. I firmly believe all cell phone and computer
technology will quickly become evolved together. Soon all new
innovations will have the same type of features; e-mail, phone,
television and these will merely be the basic functions. This
relates to Interactive Entertainment because advertisers will
now be able to link right up to user and the consumer and give
them a demo to try or a bit of information personalized just for
them. There will be a main computer in every house for families
to gather around, but there will also be mini-sets for each member.
The set will be able to hook up to the main computer and work
together.
I think that wireless Internet will not be a luxury but rather
common in cities and large urban areas. The Internet will basically
be free but many of its sites will require a charge for their
merchandise. This will lead to companies using more and more of
their time creating methods of getting people to shop at their
stores in fun ways. It will be easy to do all shopping at home,
but it will be fun to go to the actual store. Students will enjoy
school more and more to do the virtual reality assignments they
can use. They will be able to explore the world of Ancient Rome,
Egypt or Babylon through a detailed simulated world on their computer.
This world is fast approaching interactive entertainment as the
norm for which people learn, shop, and enjoy entertainment. Soon
the opportunity to be a part of the interactive community will
be easy and fun for all those involved. The only negative aspect
I can think of is the reliance on technology to answer questions
mainly answered by humans. College websites now want everyone
to apply online for admission, as well as some job websites. Medical
advice and bank account information is doled out on the Internet
but this could lead to many cases of fraud and embezzlement. The
way to prevent this is to have a person in charge of the computer
that is built for its consumer. Computers should not be analyzed
by other computers but by people. In this way, the world of the
evolving media looks bright and optimistic for all involved.
