The playground I chose to analyze
is the one located in Blanchard Park on 2451 N Dean Rd near UCF.
It is a great location for families to let their children to play
and also enjoy the scenery themselves. The playground is colorful
and has plenty of room for many children to enjoy playing across
the many slides, monkey bars and swings. It has a fairly standard
design but it is quite large and the children enjoy it all. There
are many benches nearby for parents to sit and rest while their
children play. There is a sidewalk across the street where bikers
and people on roller skates can use without the risk of harming
any child which might get in the way. Also there is a big open
picnic area for birthday parties. When I was there it seemed the
majority of people were enjoying themselves and rarely came into
conflict with each other.
The park itself is an ideal
setting for a classic public recreational area. There are no innovative
technical aspects of the park like wireless internet but there
is a state of the art gym. There could be much more due to the
amount of space there within the 135-acre park. The fields adjacent
to the playground stretch out so far that many games, festivals
and parties are held there. With all that room there could be
other events for the neighborhood to enjoy. According to the article
on http://www.pps.org/topics/play/Play_Elements
the elements of a successful park are apparent in Blanchard Park.
The park has a wide variety of activities for everyone and in
the middle is a great playground which is both large and aesthetically
pleasing promoting social interaction.
From a production point of view Blanchard Park is a great place
to film due to the setting and mostly sunny weather. I have filmed
there previously and the management has always been very polite
and understanding about the logistics of filming there. For my
own particular park I would like to use Blanchard Park’s
design but I would upgrade the technology around it for the continually
advancing times. Overall the park is a great location for children,
adults and filming.
